These terms are the rules for using Barn & Tack — the website at barnandtack.com and the Barn & Tack apps for iPhone and Android. By creating an account or using Barn & Tack, you agree to them. They're written to be read, so if anything is unclear, ask us at hello@barnandtack.com.
Who can use Barn & Tack
- Barns, trainers, riders and parents, and anyone browsing or buying on the marketplace.
- If you're under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission. Riders under 13 use Barn & Tack through a parent's account.
- You need to give your real name, and one account per person (one per email address).
Your account
- Keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
- A barn account speaks for the barn: whoever runs it is responsible for who they approve, what the barn posts, and the barn's page.
- Barns are reviewed by the Barn & Tack team before they go live, and each barn decides who joins it.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings. How deleting works
What you post
You own what you post — messages, photos, profiles, listings and barn pages. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people it's meant for (your barn, the person you're messaging, or, for barn pages and listings, the public), only to run Barn & Tack. You're responsible for what you post, and you must have the right to post it.
Don't post or send anything that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates anyone;
- is hateful, sexual, violent or otherwise objectionable, especially where children can see it;
- shares someone else's personal information, or photos of them, without their permission;
- pretends to be someone else, or misrepresents your barn, a horse or an item;
- is spam, a scam, or an attempt to take messaging outside the barn for harm;
- breaks the law or someone else's rights, including copyright.
Reporting and blocking
If a conversation, message or listing isn't okay, report it. Use Report conversation in the conversation's menu or Report listing on the listing. You can also email hello@barnandtack.com or use Send us feedback. We review reports promptly and may remove content, listings or accounts that break these terms. Blocking someone hides your direct messages and marketplace conversations with them from you. Your barn can remove a member from the barn at any time. For tips, see Stay safe.
The marketplace
- List only used tack, riding gear and equestrian equipment that you own and can sell. No live animals, weapons, medicines or anything illegal.
- Describe items honestly, with your own photos. Listings are reviewed before they go live.
- Barn & Tack isn't part of the sale: buyers and sellers agree the price, payment and handover between themselves, and we don't handle payment or shipping. Meet somewhere safe, like your barn, and inspect items before paying.
- The Trainer verified badge means a trainer at the seller's barn vouched for the listing; it isn't a guarantee from Barn & Tack.
Lessons, horses and safety
Barn & Tack is a tool for organising barn life. Lessons, horses, facilities and safety are the responsibility of your barn and trainer, under their own agreements with you. Riding and working around horses carries risk; nothing in Barn & Tack replaces your barn's rules, waivers or common sense. Reminders and schedules help, but always confirm important plans with your barn.
Fees
Barn & Tack is free to use today. If we ever introduce fees, we'll tell you clearly before they apply, and you'll never be charged without agreeing first.
Ending your use
You can stop using Barn & Tack and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk, and we may change or stop parts of Barn & Tack; if we ever shut it down, we'll give you notice first where we can.
Our responsibility
We work hard to keep Barn & Tack running and your information safe, but we provide it “as is”, without guarantees that it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Barn & Tack isn't liable for indirect or unexpected losses, or for what other people post, sell or do — including sales between marketplace buyers and sellers. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that can't be limited.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, USA. If there's ever a problem, please email us first — most things can be sorted out quickly.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and tell you in Barn & Tack before significant changes take effect. Using Barn & Tack after that means you accept the new terms. How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
